Ahmadinejad did not allow for the presidential elections in Iran

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has registered as a candidate against the advice of the spiritual leader of Iran

The final list of candidates who will be able to take part in the elections will be announced on April 27.

In Iran approved six candidates for the post of President of the country, including current President Hassan Rouhani and one of the leaders of the conservative camp Ebrahim Raisi. The former leader of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the elections were not admitted.

A similar decision by the government-controlled Council of constitutional guardians has taken in respect of his colleague Hamid Baghai. Among others approved by the Supervisory Board candidates – the mayor of Teheran and Vice-President of Iran.

The final list of candidates who will be able to participate in the elections on may 19, will be announced April 27.

Rouhani was elected Iran’s President in 2013, promising to end the international isolation of the country and create a free society .

The decision of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who led the country for two terms from 2005-2013, to fight for the presidency in the upcoming elections was unexpected. Last year, Ayatollah Khamenei warned Ahmadinejad that such a move is “not in his best interest and not in the interests of the country.” The Ayatollah appoints about half of the members of the guardian Council of the Constitution.

We will remind, the desire to run for President of Iran said more than 1,600 people.
