Amateur teams from Russia and China for the first time since 1950-ies played hockey on the ice of the Amur river

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, January 14. /TASS/. Amateur teams of Russia and China held a friendly match on the ice edge of the Amur river that separates Russia Blagoveshchensk and the Chinese city of Heihe. The players of the two countries played here for the first time since 1950-ies, reported TASS head of the press service of the government of the Amur region Elvira Overchenko.
“First went out on the ice children’s team victory in their 10-minute match with the score 2:0 won by the guys from Russia. Then played senior teams. In this battle the victory went to the Russians – they beat the Chinese team with the score 4:3”, – said Overchenko. The captain of the Russian team became the Governor of the Amur region Alexander Kozlov .
Match of “Commonwealth”, held on the ice of the Amur river right on the Russian-Chinese border, opened the second stage of the international festival of sport in the framework of the development of children’s ice sports “Good ice”. The first phase took place in Blagoveshchensk on 24 and 25 December at the indoor ice rink of stadium “Spartak”. It was attended by six Amateur teams, five of which were Russian, one China.
Informed in regional GU Ministry of emergency situations reported that the thickness of the ice on the Amur at the venue of the friendly match has reached half a meter and is safe. For full match on the river has established an ice hockey rink, bleachers, warm dressing rooms and tents for heating. The safety of the games provided rescue workers, firefighters, inspectors GIMS and divers.
The Amur region, which were not included in the tournament, was able to watch it online at the First regional TV channel. In addition, the video was broadcasted on two sports sites and outdoor screens of Blagoveshchensk.
The idea for the hockey match on the ice of the river, the head of the Amur region announced in may of this year. According to him, the Amur veterans hockey gave him a picture of TASS 1950-ies, which shows how the trade of the Amur region and Heilongjiang province play hockey. The Chinese side supported the proposal to hold a friendly tournament. According to Kozlova, the task of the organizers is to hold it at a decent level to make competition traditional.
