Assad told what catastrophe might befall Syria and the government without the friendly assistance of Russia in the fight against terrorists
The Russian government has nothing to do with decisions taken in Damascus, but the Kremlin had in a great measure the support of Syria, and without him the situation would have been grim.
According to “Russian conversation”, an opinion voiced by Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad in an interview for Europe 1.
According to him, the Russian President Vladimir Putin has not made any decisions in SAR – in the country are only decrees directly from Damascus.
“Russia respects our sovereignty. In each of the past stage – strategic or tactical – there was cooperation with Syria. They never did anything without consulting us,” said Assad.
The President also said that the situation could be much worse and even unknown, would have survived the government under pressure from militants without the help of the Kremlin .
Russia belongs the credit for the weakening of a number of terrorist groups operating in Syria and other middle Eastern countries.
