Balcon on the statement Omelyana: to run a train in Iran is not possible
The head of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Wojciech Balczun declares the impossibility to run a test train from Ukraine to Iran, due to the lack of railway infrastructure.
The Chairman of the Board of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” said that he knew nothing about the intentions of the Ministry of Infrastructure to start in the summer test train from Ukraine to Iran, and it is impossible to do due to the lack of railway infrastructure. This Balcon wrote in Facebook.
“19 April, the Minister said that in the summer will run a test train Ukraine – Iran for transportation of agricultural products. The route will run through the territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan. OK, for the specialists of the BONDS is news. Not going to comment, avoiding accusations of bias. Let’s hear objective expert Alexander Kava: “This train can reach only the Azerbaijani-Iranian border town of Astara. Rail transport is possible only from Batumi to Astara . The nearest train station, Iranian Rasht – 160 kilometers. And this way is yet to be built. It may take 3-4 years. If there will arrive the Ukrainian agricultural products, it will have to load the car and so import to Iran,” wrote Balcon.
Ukraine and Iran have agreed to launch a test train
On 20 April, the Ministry of infrastructure with reference to Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said that Ukraine and Iran have agreed to run test trains to transport agricultural products, primarily grains, from Ukraine to Iran.
At the same time, according to the Maritime transport Administration of Ukraine, Iran proposes Ukraine to organize the exchange of goods between the Iranian ports and Odessa through the newly established international transport corridor.
