Completed the investigation against the defendant in the case, the Ministry of culture
MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. The investigation of the criminal case against Nikita Kolesnikov, one of the defendants in the case of embezzlement of funds allocated for restoration of objects of cultural heritage, was completed. About this TASS said a source familiar with the situation.
The court will solve a question on prolongation of arrest of former Deputy Minister of culture Pirumov until mid-March
“With Kolesnikov was concluded pre-trial agreement, in connection with which the case was allocated in separate proceedings. At the moment the investigation is completed, the accused gets acquainted with materials of the case”, – said the Agency interlocutor, noting that in the near future it is expected the completion of investigative acts in respect of several of the defendants in the criminal case.
The defendants in the case of embezzlement of public funds in culture are the former Deputy Minister of culture of Russia Grigory Pirumov, the Director of the company “Baltstroy” Dmitry Sergeev, her Manager Alexander Kochenov, Director of the Department of property management and investment policy of the Ministry of culture Boris Mazo, the adviser of the General Director of OOO “Linnet-consult” Nikita Kolesnikov, head of the Directorate on construction, reconstruction and restoration of the Ministry of culture Boris Tsagaraev and project Manager of OOO “Stroykomplekt” Mr Swanbeck. All of them are accused under part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code (“Fraud in especially large size a group of persons”). All but Kolesnikov and Kochenova, in detention.
Theft in the Ministry of culture: briefly about the high-profile case
According to investigators, in 2012, Pirumov has created a criminal group whose members have signed contracts with erroneous information and high cost of services for the execution of restoration works with the aim to steal money. In case are six episodes: the theft of funds allocated for execution of restoration works of the ensemble of the Novodevichy convent, of the drama theatre in Pskov, St. John the Baptist monastery, the Museum of cosmonautics in Kaluga, Izborsk castle and manor Aseeva in Tambov.
As previously reported by TASS source close to the investigation, all the defendants pleaded guilty to all or a number of episodes. Mazo and Ivanov confessed to the episodes associated with the restoration of the monasteries.
