Denmark increases military spending in connection with the “Russian threat”

The Ministry of defence of Denmark report that increasing military expenditure in connection with the threat from Russia.
Denmark plans to increase military spending in connection with the placement of Russia missile systems in the Kaliningrad region, which is perceived by the Danish government as a potential threat, said Friday the Minister of defence of the Kingdom Claus Hjort Frederiksen.
“We can observe how the Russian place new missiles in Kaliningrad, which can reach Copenhagen. Of course, this is a serious risk,” the Minister said in an interview with local newspaper “Berlingske”.
However, he said that despite calls from NATO partners, Denmark can’t increase military spending to an amount equivalent to 2% of GDP .
“We are experiencing enormous pressure from the Obama administration, and, as we understand it, from the future President trump (with demand) to increase spending to 2%,” – said the Minister.
In December, the Danish government proposed the framework of a NATO mission to send 200 of its troops in Estonia.
Earlier in Kaliningrad region hosted the latest Russian missile defense systems s-400, the operational-tactical missile complexes “Iskander”, coastal missile complexes “Bastion” and “Ball” and transfer to the Baltic from the black sea fleet two missile corvettes “Green Vale” and “Serpukhov”, equipped with cruise missiles “Caliber-NK”.
