Erdogan finally clarified the issue for total withdrawal of Turkish troops from Cyprus
January 13 the President of Turkey in categorical and uncompromising form has clarified its position on this topic.
As informs “the Russian Dialogue,” Erdogan ruled out any chance of a complete withdrawal of Turkish troops from the divided Cyprus, stressing that this issue is not even discussed.
“We have made clear to the authorities of Cyprus and Greece that they should not expect to resolve the issue without the participation of Turkey as a guarantor”, – said the Turkish leader.
On 9 January took place in Geneva negotiations on the reunification of Cyprus. Erdogan noted that although representatives of the Turkish Cypriot community, working actively and honestly address this issue, the leadership of Greece and of the Republic of Cyprus has a different view.
Last year, the Cyprus Parliament voted for the resolution on lifting the EU sanctions on Russia . Despite the fact that the vote was not unanimous, none of the deputies voted against this resolution.
Former head of state, Georgius Vassiliou said that Cyprus is trying to do everything possible so that the EU lifted economic restrictions against Russia, which affects both sides.
