Rozenko stressed that all the pessimistic predictions of “catastrophic consequences” from increasing minimum wages is not justified.

In February 2017 the number of unemployed in Ukraine has decreased by 60 thousand compared to the same period last year, said Vice-Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko in the air “112 Ukraine”.

“Today we acknowledge the decrease in the number of unemployed compared to the same period last year. In particular, if we take this year, I now have the latest statistics, as of today, February: employment centers are registered 430 thousand unemployed. At the same time a year ago were registered to 490 thousand That is 60 thousand for the first months of this year, absolutely, positively, 60 thousand unemployed are registered in employment centers than last year,” he said .

Groisman: the Increase of the minimal wage will lead to GDP growth

Rozenko stressed that all the pessimistic predictions of “catastrophic consequences” from increasing minimum wages is not justified.

“It is absolutely justified step. This shows that the level and quality of life of Ukrainians will gradually grow,” he said.

How different is the minimum salary in the EU countries

According to the state service statistics, in January 2017 in Ukraine was 429 thousand unemployed. In December 2016 was 390,8 thousand, and in February 2016 – 508,2 million, according to the Agency.

From 1 January 2017 the minimum wage in Ukraine increased to 3.2 thousand UAH.

11 January, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced that the Cabinet of Ministers will create working groups that will monitor the situation with payments of salaries to Ukrainians.
