Japan will make Olympic medals out of old cell phones
The Japanese government from April will start to receive from the public old cell phones to extract gold, silver and bronze to make the medals for the Olympics 2020 in Tokyo, the newspaper writes TechCrunch.
Special boxes where you can put unnecessary phone will be set by the Olympic Committee of Japan in offices and shops across the country.
The organizers hope to collect about 8 tons of metals from obsolete equipment. Of them for the Olympics and Paralympics will be made 5 thousand medals of different advantage.
According to the latest estimates, the cost of preparing the Olympics will amount to $16.8 billion.
