Media: North Korea and Nicaragua confirmed their intention to develop relations
PYONGYANG, January 14. /Offset. TASS Yuri Sidorov/. Nicaragua and North Korea confirmed their intention to develop bilateral relations. As reported on Saturday by news Agency KCNA, the issue was discussed in Managua for a meeting of the President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega with special envoy of North Korean leader Kim Jong UN, Vice-Chairman of the state Council of that country Choi Ryong Hae. He participated in the inauguration ceremony of Ortega.
The head of Nicaragua, said KCNA, “confirmed the intention of the government and the people of his country to develop the historical relations of friendship with the DPRK, thanked Kim Jong UN, referring to the ceremony of inauguration of his special envoy”. Ortega also “wished the Korean people greater successes in the struggle to achieve prosperity under the leadership of Kim Jong UN”.
The DPRK and Nicaragua established diplomatic relations in 1979 .
During a visit in Nicaragua, Choi Ryong Hae has also met with the presidents of Venezuela and Bolivia, Nicolas Maduro and Evo Morales, the first Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Kanalen with Them.
Choi Ryong Hae is considered one of the closest aides to Kim Jong-UN, who after coming to power in 2011, has not yet made official visits abroad.
In December last year, Choi Yeon-Hye, Korea was represented at the funeral of Fidel Castro. In November 2014, he visited Russia as a special envoy of the DPRK leader.
