Norway has allocated EUR950 thousand for projects of the Council of Europe for Ukraine

Norway has allocated EUR950 million (10 million kronor) for the implementation of projects of the Council of Europe for Ukraine, said the Ambassador of Norway in Ukraine and Belarus Ulla Terje Horpestad.

“Norway is providing additional EUR950 million in 2017 to ensure the transition between the current and future plans of action”, – he said during a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

The Ambassador noted that these funds will continue the implementation of activities of the Council of Europe after the completion of the action plan for Ukraine for 2015-2017 and the new action plan for 2018-2021 years, a draft of which has already been developed.

The head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Morten Enberg noted that in the framework of the previous plan was implemented, support for constitutional reform, the functioning of democratic institutions, judicial reforms, police reforms and penal systems, as well as gender equality .

According to him, the projected cost of implementation of this action plan is around EUR28 million for four years.
