Saakashvili hopes to live up to the disappearance of the oligarchs of Ukraine’s leadership

NEW YORK, December 15. /TASS/. Former President of Georgia and now the leader of the Ukrainian party “new force Movement” Mikhail Sahakashvili hopes to live up to the moment when the oligarchs will cease to win elections in Ukraine and to come to power in this country. This Saakashvili wrote in an article published in the newspaper the New York Times.

“I believe in the great future of Ukraine. I believe that its success, as in other countries of Eastern Europe, will be to overcome the trend reversed, when the oligarchs, learning to manipulate the elections to win”, – considers ex-the President of Georgia.

“I hope to live up to not-so-distant day when I will be able to share [the joy] of such a victory with all the Ukrainians and other peoples of post-Soviet [space]”, – Saakashvili added . In the article, he explained what caused his adventures in the Ukraine, repeating the accusations of the President of Petro Poroshenko.

“The oligarch Poroshenko, the wealthy under the old system, and its environment not only stopped to help my team in Odessa and other reformers in the government, but also directly undermine our initial success,” he argued.

In may 2015, Saakashvili received the Ukrainian passport, in December 2015, was terminated of his Georgian citizenship. July 26, 2017, Poroshenko, Saakashvili was deprived of the citizenship of Ukraine. The former head of the Odessa region in early September with the support of colleagues was able to illegally break into Ukraine and was accused of illegal border crossing.

On 5 December he was detained by employees of security Service of Ukraine on charges of collaboration with criminal groups and organizations meetings that were allegedly funded from abroad. After a few hours he was released by his supporters and taken to a tent camp near the Parliament.

On 8 December he was again arrested and this time placed in a temporary detention facility in Kiev. He is charged with “assisting the members of the criminal organization.” Saakashvili himself has not recognized any charges in his address and called them politically motivated, in protest, he announced an indefinite hunger strike.

However, on 11 December the Pechersky district court of Kiev didn’t satisfy the petition of Prosecutor’s office and refused to elect a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest Mikheil Saakashvili. He was released from custody at the time of the investigation.

Saakashvili was President of Georgia from January 2004 to November 2007 and from January 2008 until mid-November 2013. In November 2013, he left the country for a few days prior to the expiration of the term of office, then lived in the United States and Ukraine.

In 2014, in Georgia against Saakashvili was charged with the organization of massacre of participants of the rally November 7, 2007, illegal intrusion in the building of the Imedi TV channel and illegal appropriation of property of businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili, in the attack on Deputy Valery Gelashvili in 2005, obstructing the investigation into the murder of banker Sandro Girgvliani and the embezzlement of state funds in 2009-2012.
