Synthetic sweeteners are in favor of fat
Some of the artificial sweeteners stimulate the appearance of new fat cells, while simultaneously pushing them to absorb more glucose.
Synthetic sweeteners are widely used in products for dieters and diabetics, they can be found in diet drinks, cereal, low fat ice cream, chewing gum without sugar.

We already wrote that some synthetic sweeteners alter intestinal microflora so that it starts to harm the metabolism.
Researchers from the George Washington University decided to find out more about how one of these sweeteners, namely Sucralose, which acts on adipose tissue. For the experiment of human fat have identified stem cells – undifferentiated cells, capable of developing as actually fat and other types of connective tissue cells . They added Sucralose in such quantity that its concentration in the nutrient medium was the same as in human blood, drank about four cans of diet coke a day. It was found that under the action of the sweetener in the cells have been more active genes associated with cell differentiation in the fat and accumulation of fat droplets; in addition, they activated the genes associated with an inflammatory response.
The researchers then took samples of abdominal fat in eight people who use synthetic sweeteners (mostly the same Sucralose): the four of them were normal weight and four were obese. It turned out that those and other increased activity of genes responsible for glucose transport into cells and differentiation of stem cells in fat. In addition, their fat mass was more taste buds for sweets, which in some tissues are also responsible for glucose transport.
All the negative effects associated with Sucralose, was stronger in those who were obese. That is, paradoxically, Sucralose, a substance with nearly zero calorie, does harm to those for whom it is intended, further stimulating the growth of fatty tissue and it absorbs glucose, which in fat cells transformirovalsya in fat molecules.
Overweight, as we know, not so much unpleasant that spoils the figure, as the fact that it very often comes along with diabetes for a person with obesity the chance of developing diabetes is 80-85% (it is believed that obesity causes diabetes of the second type, through the immune system and triggering inflammatory response).
On the other hand, when the cells begin to absorb too much glucose, it increases the risk that they, eventually, will start to abandon it, will lose their sensitivity to insulin (which causes them to absorb glucose), and this is a direct road to increased sugar in the blood and, again, the type II diabetes. Their results, the researchers reported at the annual conference of the Endocrine society.
Apparently, synthetic sweeteners behave in the body is not as inert as we would like. But although there is more doubt as to their safety, in order for something confident here to say we need to do more experiments and observations, and preferably with greater statistical power.
