The Committee to protect journalists demanded from Ukraine to lift the ban on the broadcasting of “Rain”

MOSCOW, January 14. /TASS/. The Committee to protect journalists (CPJ) based in new York, urged Kiev to cancel the decision to ban the broadcasting of Russian TV channel “Rain” in Ukraine. The corresponding statement was published on the organization’s website.
The national Council of Ukraine on TV and banned the broadcast channel “Rain”
“Ukraine should immediately lift the ban on the broadcasting of the Russian independent TV channel “Rain” – called the coordinator of CPJ in Europe and Central Asia Nina Ognianova. She also said the decision of Ukrainian authorities to “gross censorship”.
The national Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine on Thursday, January 12, took the decision to stop broadcasting of Russian TV channel “Rain” in the country and ordered the providers within a month to replace it with another. The channel was accused of violating Ukrainian legislation in the Crimea . From July 2014 on the territory of Ukraine banned the retransmission of the First channel, “RTR-Planeta”, “Russia-24”, “NTV-Mir”, ТVCI (TV Center), “Russia 1”, NTV TNT, “Petersburg 5”, “Zvezda”, REN – TV, Life News, RT, RBK – TV.
