The Council of the European Union (EU) expressed support for the introduction of temporary trade preferences for our country. This is stated in the message on the website of the Council.

According to the press service of one of the governing bodies of the EU, the trade preferences should become effective before the end of September and will apply for three years.

“Today’s decision we allow the export of Ukrainian products to the EU. It is our duty to support Ukraine and to strengthen our economic and political ties in the face of conflict on its territory”, – said the head of the EU Council, the Sven Mixer (Sven Mikser).

Earlier it was reported that the European Parliament on 1 June supported the proposal of the European Commission about increase of tariff quotas on some Ukrainian goods. Trade preferences granted to Ukraine under the DCFTA part of the Association Agreement, provisionally applied from January 2016 . Part of the agreement provides for the mutual opening of markets of goods and services, but the EU faster reduces and eliminates tariffs. Due to economic difficulties in Ukraine and its efforts to reform the EU will offer Kiev additional new trade concessions.
