The EU extended sanctions against the Syrian regime for using chemical weapons


The European Union (EU) has added 16 more people associated with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, to the list of people who are subject to the EU restrictive measures against the Syrian regime. This is stated in the message on the website of the EU Council.

The extended list includes 8 high-ranking military officials and 8 scientists engaged in dissemination and delivery of chemical weapons. Thus, according to the report, in the sanctions list of the EU against members of the Syrian regime will be shown as 255. It also includes 67 legal entities.

Earlier it was reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in an interview with Indian TV channel WION that his country possesses chemical weapons and the materials needed for its production. At the same time on 4 April 2017 became aware of the use of chemical weapons in the town of Khan Shaykhun in the South of Idlib province, which killed more than 86 people.
