The FBI checks were coordinated by representatives of the electoral headquarters of the trump with the Russians

The FBI is investigating the question of whether the coordinated election campaign staff of US President Donald trump with the Russian authorities, said the Director of the office of James Komi.

Speaking on Monday at a hearing in Congress on the alleged influence of Russia on elections in the United States, John.Komi said that the investigation started in July last year and it is difficult to predict when it will be completed.

Answering the questions of the congressmen, John.Komi said that the purpose of the investigation is to determine “whether there was any coordination” between the members of the electoral headquarters with the Russian authorities.

Meanwhile, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul is convinced that if the allegations in the coordination is confirmed, it could lead to a scandal similar to Watergate scandal, which led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

“A very important word . If (there were) coordination, this scandal will be like Watergate,” wrote Michael McFaul in his “Twitter” on Monday.

Meanwhile, during the hearing of George.Komi asked a question about his attitude to the view that distributed in the United States “new McCarthyism,” and he does not believe that he directly relates to this phenomenon. “I don’t have to do with any “isms”, including McCarthyism,” – said the Director of the FBI.

“McCarthyism” was named by the name of Senator Joseph McCarthy. This social phenomenon took place in the 50-ies of the last century, when intensified anti-Communist sentiment, which led to political repression. According to some observers, the situation with information about the alleged Russian interference in U.S. elections, as well as publications about the relations of the representatives of D. trump with Russia, has led to similar sentiments in the United States.
