The Finnish authorities consider irrelevant NATO membership

NATO membership for Finland are out of date, said the head of the government.

The membership of Finland in NATO is not urgent issue. This was stated by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, Interfax reported.

“NATO is now in Finland the issue is not as relevant. We have United with Sweden position that this cooperation (with NATO – ed.) is deepened. Deepened cooperation with NATO and enhanced cooperation of the EU, but we remain on the sidelines from joining. This position is suitable Finland”, – he said.

The head of government does not fear that Sweden becomes a NATO member without notice of Finland.

“Such surprises will not. Such agreement was confirmed in our hands (with the Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan löfven – ed.),” said Sipilä .

Earlier it was reported that Finland plans to hold large-scale military exercises with the United States and other allies in connection with the military activity of Russia.
