The foreign Ministry of Syria reported that in the coming days the country will arrive delegation of the OPCW

TASS, August 12. Experts of the Joint mechanism of the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) and the UN in the coming days will visit Syria to investigate the circumstances of the incident in the town of Khan Shaykhun, where, according to the U.S., chemical weapons were used. Damascus is ready to assist delegations, the arrival of which is expected within 10 days, in the fulfillment of their mission, said Saturday in an interview with the Associated Press, Deputy foreign Minister of Syria Faisal Mekdad.

“We will offer the assistance necessary for the investigation, and assistance to reach the place of occurrence of the alleged chemical attack,” said Mekdad. He noted that authorities will ask the delegation to visit the shayrat airbase, which, according to the United States, flew the aircraft to strike chemical munitions .

In late July, the Russian side in the letter to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres and the security Council expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that international experts have not visited Khan shaykhun and the base Shirt. The document stresses that no such visit to establish the truth would be impossible.

The incident in town of Khan Shaykhun, located in Syria’s Idlib province, took place on 4 April. According to the defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, Syrian aircraft bombed militants of the shop, where they produced toxic chemicals. Washington has accused Damascus of conducting himataki, and then on the night of April 7, the U.S. Navy launched a missile attack on a Syrian military airfield in HOMS province.

29 June the OPCW published a report which argues that in Khan Sheyhun was sprayed sarin gas or a similar toxic gas. Killing almost 100 people, including many children.
