The IMF told Russia to raise the retirement age

The International monetary Fund believes that the Russian Federation should increase the retirement age, in order to mitigate the impact of negative demographic trends on the labour market.

This is stated in the statement of the international organization after the visit of its employees to Russia, reports “Russian conversation”.

The IMF confident that the pension reform providing increase of age of retirement will have a positive impact on the labour market.

Experts, in turn, is not so optimistic about the recommendations of the International monetary Fund. At the Institute of social analysis and forecasting Ranhigs, for example, believe that raising the retirement age may lead to lower wages and labour productivity.

Analysts say that in the next 15 years the Russian Federation is not threatened by an aging workforce .

In February of this year, the press service of Vice Prime Minister Olga Golodets noted that the government had not considered the issues associated with raising the retirement age.

We will remind, the head of the Board of the Center for strategic development Alexey Kudrin suggested to reduce the number of pensioners.
