The Pentagon commented on the Russian-Turkish aviation agreement on Syria
Jan 13, acting assistant Secretary of defense for international security Elissa Slotkin told about the attitude of the American side of the recently signed Memorandum on flights in Syrian airspace.

Slotkin noted that she transferred the negotiations with Russia about signing of the Memorandum, so she welcomed the conclusion of a similar document with Turkey.
“If the Turks and the Russians agreed this is a positive moment,” she added.
The Pentagon spokesman stressed the importance of the agreement signed with Russia, as the US and Russia are acting in Syria on “an unprecedented close range” . She also noted that both parties learned lessons from the tense moments that have happened in the past.
