The U.S. Embassy is concerned about the blockade of supply of coal from ORDA and urged Kiev to accelerate the diversification of supplies
The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine is concerned about the potential impact on the energy system of Ukraine blockades the supply of coal from uncontrolled Kyiv regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
“We are concerned about the current barriers to the supply of coal from non-government controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and its potential impact on the energy system of Ukraine, the Ukrainian economy and citizens of Ukraine”, – said in a statement the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, which is published on official page of social network Facebook on Thursday.
The Embassy noted that the parties should meet to accept the “short-term steps that will allow the lawful goods of Ukrainian companies to transparently cross the line of collision, to prevent complications of the situation for Ukrainians on both sides” .
“In addition, we urge the government of Ukraine to accelerate the implementation of these necessary reforms in the energy sector to better meet the needs of the Ukrainian people. The implementation plan for the diversification of coal supplies to Ukraine, energy efficiency and minimizing the role of the state in the energy sector will reduce opportunities for corruption and strengthen energy security,” the statement says.
