Tretiak: the youth world championship in Dmitrov contributes to the development of women’s hockey in Russia

The holding of the world youth championship in the Moscow suburb of Dmitrov contributes to the development of women’s hockey in Russia. On Saturday the Russian team with the score 1:5 lost to team Canada in the match for third place world championship, which takes place in the Moscow suburb of Dmitrov.

“I am glad that we have such a team. One time to women’s hockey were treated with disdain. But today not all the clubs of the Continental hockey League and senior hockey League to develop women’s hockey, though girls really want to play it,” – said Tretiak.

“There are problems and we feel it, – continued the interlocutor of the TASS. We organize these tournaments to promote women’s hockey, so that more girls come to play. I want to develop this Olympic sport, but many clubs believe that they lack the resources and opportunities in order to support women’s team”.

“I would like to thank the Ministry of sports of Russia, the Governor of Moscow region, administration of Dmitrovsky area and volunteers for organizing the event. Thank you to the fans who filled the arena almost every game. It is very important that our team feels the support”, – concluded the head of the FHR.

Youth world championship will end on Saturday, when the final match between teams USA and Sweden (19:30 GMT).
