Ukraine intends to auction owned by Libya, An-124 “Ruslan”

Ukraine intends to put up for international auction owned by Libya heavy transport An-124 “Ruslan” in case of default on the Libyan side of debt of $1.2 million for routine maintenance and storage of aircraft, transmitted by the Libyans, “Antonov” (Kiev) in 2010, said Thursday the law firm “Ilyashev and partners”.

According to the press service law firm, Antonov turned to Svyatoshinsky district court of Kiev with a request for permission to compulsory execution which was issued in may in favor of Antonov decision of the International commercial arbitration court (ICAC) at the chamber of Commerce and industry of Ukraine (UCCI) on the recovery of 32 million UAH of the Executive body for the special air Libya, acting as the successor who had ordered the plane to Ukraine for service in 2010 Libyan state-owned airline Libyan Arab ir Cargo.

“The Libyan government voluntarily on the decision of the arbitration court are not complied with . Antonov, protecting their legitimate rights, have to ask you to foreclose on the aircraft An-124-100 “Ruslan”, owned by the Libyan side and located in Kiev. In case of default on the debt, the aircraft will be exposed to the state Executive service (GIS of the Ministry of justice-if) up for auction”, is given in the press release of the comment of a senior partner of law firm “Ilyashev and Partners” Roman Marchenko.

As said by Mr. Marchenko, the Agency “Interfax-Ukraine” passed by the Libyans for maintenance work and storage in Ukraine freighter, was to be transferred to the customer in 2012, however he was unable to take him in connection with military operations in Libya.

“Because of the lack of progress in negotiations with the Libyan side about the future of the aircraft, as well as the accumulation of debt in storage, in 2016 Antonov filed a lawsuit in the international commercial arbitration court, which adopted the decision on collecting $1.2 million in favor of the Ukrainian company. In case of default judgments, the plane will be put up for international auction. Starting price will be determined by an independent appraiser of justice,” he said.

As reported, Ukraine has sold two transport An-124-100 “Ruslan” of Libya in the early 2000s. the cost of the transaction were not voiced.
