UN Talks on Syria in Geneva have been to no avail

The next round of talks on Syria have not led to serious results.

The sixth round of negotiations for a peaceful settlement in Syria, which was held in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations, ended without tangible results, reports DW.

The UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said that during the four days of consultations failed to reach agreement to hold meetings of experts on questions of law and the Constitution.

According to him, talking on the proximity talks between the warring parties was about the new Constitution, new government, free elections and the fight against terrorism.

The next round of consultation will be expected in June.

Syria is reluctant to put troops under UN auspices

Earlier, the UN has welcomed in Astana the agreement on the peaceful settlement in Syria and the establishment of security zones .
