Ambassador Chaly took part in the signing of documents on financing the construction of the csfsf

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Valery Chaly together with the President and chief Executive officer of the Corporation overseas private investment USA ray Wasbornin (OPIC) and the President of NAEK “Energoatom” Yury Nedashkovsky took part in the signing ceremony of the documents related to the financing of the construction in Ukraine of a Centralized repository for spent nuclear fuel (facility).

As reported on the website of the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States in the social network Facebook, the store will take on the storage of nuclear fuel from three nuclear power plants of Ukraine.

“In accordance with the agreement, “Bank of America/Merrill Lynch” organized placement of bonds with a fixed rate on the US stock market to borrow $250 million under the obligation of risk insurance from OPIC. Energoatom will receive a 20-year loan by a corresponding amount . “Energoatom” in cooperation with the American company “Holtec International” started construction of the facility in November of 2017″, – stated in the message.

The Ambassador stressed that the project of construction of the Centralized storage of spent nuclear fuel is implemented in cooperation with American partners and is “an important step towards strengthening Ukraine’s energy security”.

“The project not only enhances our energy security but also has significant positive social and economic effects, in particular, creating in Ukraine a new high-paying jobs. To complete the construction of the storage Ukraine will save significant money, abandoning the transport and storage of spent nuclear fuel in Russia”, – said the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.
