The average expenses of Americans on Valentine’s Day in 2018 to reach $143,56 per person compared to $136,57 in 2017. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the National retail Federation (NRF), the United States, writes Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, February 14.

Total expenditures in the country amount to $19.6 billion against $18.2 billion a year earlier.

According to the NRF, to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year will be 55% of the population compared to 54% last year .

According to the survey, of the total, $88,98 will be spent on a gift for their spouse/partner, $25,29 – other family members, including children and parents, $7,26 – to gifts for kids classmates/teachers, $7,19 for friends, $5,5 – holiday treats beloved pet and $4,79 for colleagues.

The largest expenditure plan Americans in the age group from 25 to 34 years – an average of $202,76.

About 19% of those who celebrate Valentine’s day, are going to give jewelry. Total costs will be $4.7 billion for about 35% of the respondents will lead your other half to a restaurant that will cost a total of $3.7 billion.

Another 36% of respondents will give flowers (total cost $2 billion), 17% – clothing ($1.9 billion), a 15% gift cards or certificates ($1.5 billion), and 46% of the postcards ($894 million).

Sweets plan to give 55% of the respondents (50% a year earlier), their total value is expected to reach $1.8 billion.

Popular are the so-called gifts experience, including tickets to a concert or sporting event, they plan to present 24% of respondents.

Gifts are often purchased in Department stores (35%), discount centers (32%), online stores (29%), specialized stores (19%) and florists (17%) and small local entrepreneurs (14%).
