The first Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Sergey Kovalev refused to be a Trustee Sobchak

MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS./ First Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation, Soviet dissident, member of the political party “Yabloko” Sergey Kovalev has refused to be a Trustee of the presidential candidate of the Russian Federation from party “Civil initiative” Ksenia Sobchak. This is stated in the letter Kovalev at the disposal of TASS. The press service of the headquarters Sobchak failed to provide the TASS operational review.

“Dear Ksenia! I thought about my hasty consent to become Your confidant, I realized that I had made a grave error. This work is beyond me, and not like – do not take for not know how to do best . And not feel a solid conviction,” the letter said Kovalev.

The letter also contains criticism of Sobchak for incorrect lighting her meeting with human rights. According to Kovalev, during the interview with Sobchak appeared “without warning, without knocking, without calling the group out of nowhere who took people with cameras and microphones”. The advocate regrets that it did not have time to drive them out. “With me it was not the first time, and I said usually, “get out!”. But it was Your people! Sergey Kovalev, he noted that, most likely, will support in the elections Yavlinsky. “Verotyano, I traditionally would support Yavlinsky, although without any hope of success,” he added.

On Tuesday, the website of the presidential candidate of Ksenia Sobchak said that the first Russian Ombudsman, member of the political party “Abaco” Sergey Kovalev has agreed to become a Trustee of the candidate in presidents of Russia from party “the Civil initiative” Ksenia Sobchak. Kovalev said he likes the trend Sobchak to speak on behalf of civil society and touched her on a trip to Chechnya during the election campaign. Kovalev was not registered by the Central election Commission as a Trustee Sobchak.

Sergei Kovalev, born in 1930, he held the post of Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation in 1994-1995, actively opposed the operation of the Federal forces in Chechnya.
