The “Fisht” Olympic stadium may make the Rugby world Cup-7 in 2020

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS./ Rugby Federation of Russia (FRR) is preparing a bid to host stages of the World series Rugby-7 in 2020 at the stadium “fischt.” This was in the context of the meeting of the Federation Council, devoted world championship on football of 2018, said Minister of physical culture and sports of Krasnodar territory Lyudmila Chernova.

Earlier, the head of the Federal Antimonopoly service and the Chairman of the Supreme Council FRR Igor Artemyev told TASS that Russia may submit a bid to host stages of the World series Rugby-7 in 2019-23.

“After the world Cup 2018, the Fisht stadium will be used as a multifunctional sports complex . The stadium will not only be home to the football team of the city of Sochi, but also a place for cultural events. Rugby Federation of Russia is preparing a bid to host the world Cup in 2020, and the Fisht Olympic stadium will become the main arena of the tournament,” said Chernova.

The Minister also noted that all training grounds for the world Cup in the region will be transferred to the Ministry of municipal sports schools. In Sochi, Gelendzhik, Anapa and Krasnodar located a training base for national teams participating in the championship. “All of the training base of the region to be used by national teams at the world Cup will be transferred to the Ministry of municipal sports schools,” – said Chernov.

The world Cup will be held from 14 June to 15 July. In Sochi will play the team of Portugal and Spain (group B, June 15), Belgium and Panama (group G, June 18), Germany and Sweden (group F, 23 June), Australia and Peru (group C, June 26).
